Feeding a Hungry-Ultimate Spiritualism

Hi Friends, I happened to have a widget “Free rice – Play and feed a hungry person” for my blog from my friend’s site and inspired to write a post on it.

Indian culture is unique in so many aspects. India's great diversity of cultural practices, languages customs, and traditions are examples of this unique co-mingling over the past five millennia. Ramayana and Mahabharata are the two biggest and oldest epics of all the time. Hinduism, Jainism, Buddhism, Sikhism are the main religious systems of India. Indian culture does not invent God but it discovers. According to Swami Vivekananda "The highest truth is this: God is present in all beings. They are his multiple forms. There is no other God to seek. He alone serves God who serves all other beings." According to Hinduism, Annadaanam or offering the food as the highest service to the needy people. Anna daanam was and still is considered foremost among other daanams (Donations) and those who performed it were blessed with lots of food throughout their life, with good children, plenty of wealth and also Gods own mercy and liberation.

When I grabbed this free rice widget I felt very happy. If you play a quiz through this widget, for every right answer you earn 20 grams of rice, which will be used for feeding a hungry person through United Nations World Food Program. You can attempt any number of questions in different categories. Free Rice is a sister site of Poverty.com. Partners are the Berkman Center for Internet & Society at Harvard University and the United Nations World Food Program. Sponsors pay your donated rice.

These organizations are performing the highest service by feeding the needy people in their own way. I think this is the purest form of spiritualism. Every body should be grateful to these organizations for this noble cause.

I request my blog visitors to play this quiz every time they visit my site and also copy this widget in their blog so that our blogger community can make some difference in the life of hungry people around the World.

Power of belief – A real story ?

Hi Friends, I am going to share an incident with you which took place about 50 years back in Mangalore district of Karnataka state, southern part of India where we can see different types of religious rituals. One of them is Holy Spirit Worship popularly known as BHUTA KOLA. This is an ancient form of worship prevalent among the Tulu-speaking community in Udupi, Mangalore districts in Karnataka and Kasaragod( my native place) district in Kerala. The spirits or the bhutas worshipped are considered to be the guardians of the villages, blessing and protecting the villagers. Many of these spirits are said to be attendants of Lord Shiva. Though people in this area are well educated now and the literacy rate here is very high compared to any other part of India, most of the villages have become towns, effect of modernization and globalization can be seen in every house hold, but their belief on the existence of Bhuta is still intact, in fact it has increased. Why it is so?

Here is a real incident: In a village near Mangalore, in a middle class family, their only worshiping deity was a spirit called panjurli(See Video). Their every activity was beginning with panjurli and ending with it. That means, though it was not visible, they were feeling its presence in their house and around them. Such was their belief on panjurli. The lady in the house was the back bone of the family looking after her six small children and her husband who was also not healthy. Suddenly one day, lady fell down due to some unknown reason, every body thought she was unconscious and gave some first aid, but there was no improvement in her condition. She has no breath, her heart beating was almost nil. for every body’s surprise, within few minutes she suddenly got up as if nothing has happened and continued her routine work. Calendar pages rolled, Children grown up, daughters got married; sons became earning members of the family. As a whole all were very happy. One day on the day of Bhuta kola which is performed once in a year, suddenly she fell down again, in front of the people who gathered for the function. Within no time her dead body turned in to a skeleton.

What happened there? There is no scientific explanation for it. How a living body suddenly turned in to a skeleton? People gave their own explanations to it. Most of the believers of panjurli thought, this woman died long back when she collapsed first time. To give support to the family members, spirit panjurli entered her dead body and stayed inside till her presence was a must in the family.

I know some readers may think this is a mere story. We see so many miracles take place now and then in different part of the world for which we can’t give any explanation. I wanted to share this very old incident here as a blog post, but I was hesitating since I was not a eye witness to it. Finally gathered my courage and publishing it. If any body can give better explanation for this incident I will be happy to know it.

Darwin's theory - only assumption?

Hi friends,I am a regular visitor of allconsidering for which I am a feed subscriber. The author has centered all posts around spiritualism. In a recent post “The purpose of reincarnation” author has expressed views beautifully on reincarnation which are not easy to digest for people like me. I am convinced and happy to go through some views on reincarnation which are matching my own views in my blog post is-rebirth-reality-or-myth in this site.
But regarding the evolution theory author has written I quote: "Evolution is a physical fact. There’s no longer the option of denying that science has proved that humans descend from animals which were also the ancestors of the current apes. Even the Roman Catholic Church has officially accepted this." unquote
Darwin's theory of evolution was based mainly on some assumptions not on scientific facts. Just by assumptions we can't conclude anything. Some hundred years back our forefathers believed that The Earth was flat, but latter it was proved wrong. Here are some quotes about Evolution theory from which we can conclude that species evolution is not a scientific fact. anointed-one.net

Keeping aside all scientific theories, assumptions and religious belief, we can discuss evolution theory on the basis of some facts of modern era. We have the record of all the species for the last twenty centuries or may be even more except for some rare ones. Our scientists have not witnessed any instance of species evolution what so ever during this period and they are not expecting any such thing in future also. In one Yoga seminar Baba Ramdev of India who is a well-known Yoga teacher and a spiritual leader, has questioned the believers of Darwin’s theory, I quote “if man is evolved from ape, then why that evolution is not taking place now, not for the last 5000 years; if it is a natural process then it should be continues one.” unquote.

Though I try to find scientific answer for all my doubts, I just blindly believe that every species is a separate creation of God and don’t need any scientific proof for it.

Health in Your Hand: Part -1

Hi Friends, today being a full moon day, an auspicious one for us in India, I would like to start a new post with a new Label called Health through Yoga. Spiritualism and yoga are knitted with each other. Yoga practice is the foundation for spiritual journey. But for common people like me, practicing yoga is to lead a healthy life both physically and mentally. Saint Patanjali was the first person who experimented and wrote books on yoga. Mudra is a spiritual gesture, performed with the hands and fingers. Though mudras are very simple and easy to practice, but are are very powerful. If you practice these mudras regularly you can see the wonderful health benefits. We can discuss few of them on daily basis one by one.
1. Gyan Mudra (Mudra of Knowledge):

Touch the tip of the thumb to the tip of the index finger, with the other three fingers stretched out.
Specialty:
As it is a mudra of knowledge, it enhances the knowledge. The tip of thumb has centers of pituitary and endocrine glands. When we press these centers by index finger the two glands work actively.
Time duration:
There is no particular time duration for this mudra. You can practice by sitting, standing or lying on bed whenever and wherever you have time.
Benefits:
Increases memory power and sharpens the brain
Enhances concentration and prevents insomnia
If we practice it regularly, it will cure all psychological disorders like Mental, Hysteria, Anger and depression.

Brain damaging Habits………

Hi Friends, today again being Sunday, as usual off day, I was searching my old collections, for a new blog post. Though all of us know about the consequences of bad habits, we continue those habits at the cost of our life which is price less. Some bad habits can be stopped by changing our life style where as some requires a bit of extra effort.

Here I have listed few brain damaging bad habits or practices. Though these tips might have been published millions of times in different languages, in different Medias, I thought refreshing them again may not be a bad idea keeping in mind the importance of health of brain in our life. Our medical science is progressing in all fields except in the field of human brain. This is the only organ in our body which cannot be treated in an exact way, cannot be transplanted from other bodies. God has given all possible external protections to this precious organ, but He will be a mute spectator, when we ourself are trying to damage it from inside.

1. No breakfast: Leads to lower blood sugar, reflects in an insufficient supply of nutrients to the brain causing brain degeneration.

2.Over eating: It causes hardening of the brain arteries, leading to a decrease in mental power.

3. Smoking: It causes multiple brain shrinkage and may lead to Alzheimer disease.

4. High sugar consumption: It will interrupt the absorption of proteins and nutrients, may effect brain development.

5. Air pollution: Less supply of oxygen leads to decrease in brain efficiency.

6. Sleep deprivation: Sleep allows our brain to rest. Restlessness to brain leads to the acceleration of the death of brain cells

7. Head covered while sleeping: It increases the concentration of Carbon dioxide and decreases the oxygen concentration causing brain damage.

8. Working your brain during illness: It leads to the decrease in the effectiveness of the brain as well as may even damage it.

9. Lacking in stimulating thoughts: Positive thinking is the best way to train our brain, avoiding brain shrinkage.

Are we enjoying on the debris of our ancestors?

Hi Friends, I am a Post graduate Diploma holder in Ecology & Environment and topics related to environment are very close to my heart. Here I have studied about different types of fuels which we use in our daily life. Petroleum products are our main source of energy in this modern era. It is explored from beneath the earth in the form of crude oil which is then refined to different grades. Generally coal and petroleum products are categorized as fossil fuel means fuel obtained from the remains of animals and plants buried under the earth million years back. I don’t want to go deep inside the theoretical part of its formation but only political part of it. Often I am pained by seeing the politics played by countries having oil resources. Crude oil prices are manipulated so as to weaken the economic conditions of other countries especially third world counties. Some individuals having the ownership of oil wells are ill treating the less privileged masses. Some times I think the whole world is at the mercy of these oil producers. Here I don’t want to name any individual country.

I studied in my PG Diploma, that fossil fuels are non renewable. So, that day is not far away when there will be no oil inside the earth. But before that, oil resources inside the earth may be shifted to some other part of the world due to continental shift which is a natural phenomenon. These are the warning signals to every body both for producers and users. Oil resource is a gift to our generation from our ancestors (including plants and animals) who lived million years ago. Every body in the world is buying this gift at very high price for his day to day activities whereas some people are exploiting the weakness of the buyer and enjoying.

Click the link OIL PRICE make yourself amazed.

Amazing what $2.75US a gallon gas can buy, isn't it?

Want to be Happy?

Hi friends, I am a great admirer of Dr.Stephen Covey who is known as Management Guru. I am also a member of Dr. Covey community. Recently I happened to see an article by my colleague about Dr.Covey’s collections in our organization’s monthly house magazine. I thought when it is there in our house magazine, why it should not be in my blog. It was about his famous 90/10 principle. This principle says “10% of life is made up of what happens to you, 90% of life is decided by how you react.” We really have no control over 10% of what happens to us. I think this may be destiny. I firmly believe that as per karma theory this 10% is bound to happen. I have mentioned about this in my earlier post Is rebirth a reality or myth?. Remaining 90% is entirely a different story altogether. It is determined by your reaction to the inevitable 10%. You can make it happy one or make a mess of it. Dr Covey has given a simple example to illustrate his theory.

A family of 3 members, dad, mom and a daughter getting ready to start their day with a breakfast. Suddenly daughter knocks over a cup of hot tea on dad’s business dress. According to Dr.Covey, dad has no control over what has just happened but what happens next will be determined by how he reacts.

Reaction -1 : Tea splashes, he curses, scolds daughter, criticizes spouse. Daughter brakes down in tears, misses her school bus, he drove her to school, so getting himself late, tries to break traffic rule, caught by police , getting fined heavily, reaches office late with disturbed mind , returns home in the evening to face a hostile environment from both daughter and spouse.

Reaction -2: Tea splashes, he consoles daughter, changes his shirt, every thing goes smoothly for the whole day, also getting goodwill from his family members for his smooth behavior.

I think generally people with weak mind and less will power will react to such situations as per example-1 only. If one practices Yoga, remains mentally fit, then only he can exhibit reaction-2. To make both our body and mind strong, we should be in touch with spiritualism. Only a stress free mind can react to any type of situation in a positive way. In the whole Biosphere, only for human being God has given thinking power. Unlike other animals, we can think and then act. Our reaction should not be spontaneous. If it is so, then what is the difference between us and animals? We are the beautiful creation of God. The Creator has done his work perfectly. Now it is left to our own choice to remain beautiful or not.

Dr.Covey’s 90/10 principle may be incredible one, but to apply it in our day to day life, we need to make our mind strong which is possible through spiritual practice only.

Mind reading machine

Hi friends, advance of software technology results in so many amazing products. Some products are very simple where as many more are hi-tech. I always feel proud of those technologists who produce software products by the tip of their finger. We can compare this technological creation with that of God Almighty’s favorite creation called human. Without life there is no value for body, similarly without software, hardware is like a body without life. Here is a mind reading machine called “Flash mind reader developed by Mr. Andy Naughton which is really amazing. Recently I received it from my friend through email, thought to share it with you as a blog post. Hats off to Mr. Andy Naughton

Family Tree

Friends, for last 3 days I was away from all of you to attend a religious festival called “Ganesh Chathurthi” to my native place. The uniqueness of this festival is it is celebrated as per the convenience of the devotees. It is celebrated both in public places as well in individual households. For a hardcore religious person this may be an occasion to perform rituals, pray as per his Bhakti (love towards God) and get the blessings of Lord Ganesha where as for common mass it is a time to enjoy just like other festivals. I am originally from Kasaragod, a south Indian city and a member of Kasaragod Kamath’s family which is very prominent in that area. Most of the family members are living independently as individual family in the vicinity of Kasaragod. Some individuals have moved away from there for different reasons like me. Some educated ones are even staying in different parts of the world. One of our family members is heading a nationalized bank as Managing Director. As I have observed from my childhood every one in the family is religious and patriotic in nature. Every member tries to attend this festival irrespective of the location he is presently staying. Last year one boy came from all the way from Australia on five days leave just for attending this festival.

Here is an occasion for all of us to meet at least once in a year and also to celebrate the festival of our favorite God. Festival is celebrated in our family house which is the property of all of us. Here we maintain a record of all the members’ back up to five generation. To educate our future generation about our family and its forefathers a family tree is drawn on a card board and is updated every year on the day of this festival. Every new born members name is added as a leaf in the tree. I think it is very special and unique way of maintaining relationship in the family. Whenever I see this tree with my fathers, forefathers name in the branches, sub branches and leafs, I recall and enjoy my childhood memories witch is associated with them.
There may be many other such unique family traditions in India or may be in different parts of the world which requires publicity and our blogger communities can do it in a best way
