When things go wrong as they sometimes will

When the Road you are trudging seems all up hill;

Lord Ganesha... I felt your presence!

Hi friends, I would like to share my following experience with you. Auspicious Ganesha Chaturthi, the birthday of Lord Ganesha is celebrated all over the world in different ways and in our family too at my native place Kasaragod we worship our family deity through all religious rituals. Our family priest who is conversant with all rituals, by chanting Sanskrit verses invokes Lord’s divine energy in to the beautiful clay idol decorated with various flowers and costly ornaments. Since many years I am observing a drastic change in the eyes of the idol as soon as the priest completes the chanting of those mantras or Sanskrit verses which are meant for Pranapratishhtha or giving life to the idol. With the completion of mantras, the eyes of the idol become lively. In the night, the priest ends the rituals by chanting “visargena mantra” praying lord Ganesha to come out from the idol and return to his world. With the completion of these religious chants the liveliness in the eyes of idol disappears immediately. I am closely watching this miracle every year and with every passing year my belief on the existence of God has become more intact. I have captured this photo on 23.08.2009.

Is economy rolling back to mormalcy?

Hi friends, the turbulence in the global economy has created up and downs in most of our life including mine. Remembering my mom and her proverb.........

Hi Friends, I was born and brought up in a small town in southern part of India. I firmly believe that mother is the first teacher in a school called home. In India our journey of learning starts from our beloved home where the teacher is none other than our mom who expects only love from her children. I remember my mom (who is no more now) who used to advise us by quoting proverbs whenever we do mistakes. She was against to credit culture and never allowed my dad to take credit unless is was unavoidable. My taxi driver just smiled and waved at the guy. And I mean, he was really friendly. So I asked, 'Why did you just do that? This guy almost ruined your car and sent us to the hospital!'

This is when my taxi driver taught me what I now call, 'The Law of the Garbage Truck.' He explained that many people are like garbage trucks.

They run around full of garbage, full of frustration, full of anger, and full of disappointment. As their garbage piles up, they need a place to dump it and sometimes they'll dump it on you. Don't take it personally.

Just smile, wave, wish them well, and move on. Don't take their garbage and spread it to other people at work, at home, or on the streets.

The bottom line is that successful people do not let garbage trucks take over their day. Life's too short to wake up in the morning with regrets, so... 'Love the people who treat you right. Pray for the ones who don't.' Life is ten percent what you make it and ninety percent how you take it!

MY MOM IS THE BEST

Hi friends, I have celebrated my 25^th marriage anniversary on 24^th of this month and that was a small family gathering with about 25 members, most of who traveled about 300 kilometer distance to attend it. Though I was thrilled to receive my most beloved people including my bothers, sisters in laws, bother in laws to my house, there was some thing lacking in the whole atmosphere. In the course of the function I felt it was my parent’s absence due to which I was unable to enjoy the function whole heartedly. I have seen the hardships they have gone through in bringing up us and when the time came to relax and enjoy their remaining life with their grand children, it was very late and they left us for ever. Whenever I am in the middle of happy moments, a guilty feeling is covering my mind about it. I got so many occasions to serve them but not utilized them properly. I have to live with this guilty feeling through my remaining life and believe I deserve this punishment. As a tribute to my mother and an eye opener to all those who are lucky to still have their mom around them – here is a beautiful message.

Bad Economy - Good for future generation?

Hi friends, are you worried about the present global economic crisis? "YES"- will be the answer from most of us. West to south, billionaire to beggar, employer to employee, in a nut shell every one of us is badly hit by this global phenomenon. Even though I am also a victim of the present bad economy, I see a ray of hope which is beaming out from this crisis for my next generation.

In a pursuit to attain economic superiority over other, every country has started industrial production in excess of demands without looking back at its side effect on the Mother Nature, and the main beneficiaries are the so called five super powers of the world. Goods were being produced in uneven proportions to requirements and China took a leading role at this period and quantity replaced quality. All available natural resources are explored and utilized to satisfy country's ego and greed of some sections of society. Here is a simple example but very alarming one to illustrate China's greed at the cost of environment: production of wood pulp and VS Fiber, for which eucalyptus tree is the major raw material. They entered this fray recently and set up plants with very high capacities and started selling pulp and fiber at very cheap price giving up the concept of quality and if these types of industrial activities are carried out at the cost of nature, the future of our next generation will be very bleak. I am not pointing out China alone, every country and its population is on this self destruction path. The under ground big bang experiment which is being carried out in America may be a step in that direction, only time will tell us.

As a testimony to the Newton’s theory which says "for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction", all our activities are producing side effects in the form of generation of green house gases, global warming, ozone layer depletion so on. Every year global average ambient temperature is increasing resulting in melting of ice in the glaciers which was formed billion years back, effectively increasing the present sea water level. If this trend continues which is an irreversible one, then those days are not very far when the whole earth is under water.

Friends, due to the present economic crisis, industrial production is on low scale all over the world and I hope this will continue and go down further keeping in mind its benefits to our ecology and environment. Though we cannot restore the damaged environment back, we can sustain the present level by limiting our industrial activities as per our global requirements. Oil wells in the gulf region have reduced their oil production and it is a good sign according to me not only because we are preserving every drop of oil for our future generation but we are saving the environment from generation of green house gases.

I always believe that our present generation is the only custodians of the Nature and its resources which are very old and priceless. But we often forget this very fact and doing every thing not to hand over this Mother Nature to our next generation in a healthy condition. The present economic cries should be an eye opener to every one of us who have little concern for their children and grand children. We should utilize this God send opportunity to change our life style and do every thing possible to minimize pollution generating activities. It is now or never. Let us put our greed behind every thing and practice the concept of environment protection first, every thing next. I hope now you may agree with my view that the present economic crisis is a blessing in disguise to all of us and to our future generation.

Presently all of us are busy in selecting favors for our friends and relatives for the coming Christmas and New Year to show our love and affection to them and it is a custom since many generations all over the world. I believe our greatest offering of all the times to our next generation should be a great place to live not to suffer.
