Mirror of Soul

Hi friends, here is a health tip which was lying in my inbox since many days and I am publishing it as such for my blog visitors.

During a recent visit to an optician, one of my friends was told of an exercise for the eyes by a specialist doctor in the US that he termed as, "20-20-20". It is apt for all of us, who spend long hours at our desks, looking at the computer screen. I Thought I'd share it with you.

20-20-20 Formula

Step I:
After every 20 minutes of looking into the computer screen, turn your head and try to look at any object placed at least 20 feet away. This changes the focal length of your eyes, a must-do for the tired eyes.
Step II:

Try and blink your eyes for 20 times in succession, to moisten them.
Step III:

Time permitting of course, one should walk 20 paces after every 20 minutes of sitting in one particular posture. Helps blood circulation for the entire body. Circulate among your friends if you care for them and their eyes. They say that your eyes are mirror of your soul, so do take care of them, they are priceless................

Root of Stress

Hi friends, here is an eye opener to all of us who are hell bent on acquiring the best things at the cost of peace. Let us read and realize.

A group of alumni, highly established in their careers, got together to visit their old university Professor. Conversation soon turned into complaints about stress in work and life.

Offering his guests coffee, the Prof went to the kitchen and returned with a large pot of coffee and an assortment of cups: porcelain, plastic, glass, some plain-looking and some expensive and exquisite, telling them to help themselves to hot coffee.

When all the students had a cup of coffee in hand, the lecturer said "If you noticed, all the nice-looking, expensive cups were taken up, leaving behind the plain and cheap ones. While it is but normal for you to want only the best for yourselves, that is the source of your problems and stress.

What all of you really wanted was coffee, not the cup, but you consciously went for the better cups and are eyeing each other's cups."

"Now, if Life is coffee, then the jobs, money and position in society are the cups. They are just tools to hold and contain Life, but the quality of Life doesn't change. "Sometimes, by concentrating only on the cup, we fail to enjoy the coffee in it.

So, don't let the cups drive you...enjoy the coffee instead.

Sculptures

Hi friends, as per the definition, any object may be classified as an antique if it is at least one hundred years old. Whenever we come across the word “antique, we think of ancient coins and sculptures which are the most common old objects we see in our day today life. India is a country which carries a very rich ancient cultural heritage with it and ancient Indian temples and sculptures are some of the richest ancient heritages of the world. Evaluating the value of an antique sculpture should be a real Herculean task even for an expert.

We can see number of ancient temples in India which were built way back before the birth of Jesus Christ. Apart from the main deity, which is the most important and most valuable idol placed inside the sanctum sanatorium, there are number of other small idols placed at different locations in side the temple. There is a great demand for Indian antiques in the world market and Indian Archaeological Department is taking necessary steps to prevent its theft and black marketing.

There are number of voluntary organizations, Government agencies and online communities which are working for preserving these ancient heritages all over the world. Among them I antique online, which is an online community for antique lovers of the world who are interested in collecting, buying and selling antiques. I think http://www.iantiqueonline.com is the right place for dealing antiques and there is no doubt that the dealers will get the right price for their antiques. In this form it is a win-win situation for both buyer and seller.

MY MOM IS THE BEST

Hi friends, I have celebrated my 25th marriage anniversary on 24th of this month and that was a small family gathering with about 25 members, most of who traveled about 300 kilometer distance to attend it. Though I was thrilled to receive my most beloved people including my bothers, sisters in laws, bother in laws to my house, there was some thing lacking in the whole atmosphere. In the course of the function I felt it was my parent’s absence due to which I was unable to enjoy the function whole heartedly. I have seen the hardships they have gone through in bringing up us and when the time came to relax and enjoy their remaining life with their grand children, it was very late and they left us for ever. Whenever I am in the middle of happy moments, a guilty feeling is covering my mind about it. I got so many occasions to serve them but not utilized them properly. I have to live with this guilty feeling through my remaining life and believe I deserve this punishment. As a tribute to my mother and an eye opener to all those who are lucky to still have their mom around them – here is a beautiful message.

MY MOM IS THE BEST

When you were 1 year old, she fed and bathed you.
You thanked her by crying all night long.

When you were 2 year old, she taught you to walk.
You thanked her by running away when she called.

When you were 3 year old, she made all your meals with love.
You thanked her tossing your plate on the floor.

When you were 4 year old, she gave you some crayons.
You thanked her by coloring dining room table.

When you were 5 year old, she dresses you for the holidays.
You thanked her by plopping in to the nearest.

When you were 6 year old, she walked you to school.
You thanked her by screaming “I am not going”

When you were 7 year old, she bought you a base ball.
You thanked her by throwing it through the next door neighbor’s window.

When you were 8 year old, she handed you an ice cream.
You thanked her by dipping it all over your lap.

When you were 9 year old, she paid for your piano lessons.
You thanked her by never bothering to practice.

When you were 10 year old, she drove you all day, from soccer to
gymnastic, to one birthday party to another,
You thanked her by jumping out of the car and never looking back.

When you were 11 year old, she took you and your friends to the movies.
You thanked her by asking her to sit in a different row.

When you were 12 year old, she warned you not to see certain TV shows.
You thanked her by waiting until she left the house.

When you were 13, she suggested for a hair cut.
You thanked her by telling her she had no taste.

When you were 14, she paid for a month away at summer camp.
You thanked her by forgetting to write a single letter.

When you were 15, she came from home from work looking for a hug.
You thanked her by having your bedroom door locked.

When you were 16, she taught you how to drive her car
You thanked her by taking it every chance you could.

When you were 17, she was expecting an important call.
You thanked her by being on the phone all night.

When you were 18, she cried at your high school graduation.
You thanked her by staying out partying out till dawn.

When you were 19, she paid for your tuition, drove you to campus,
carried your bags.
You thanked her by saying good-bye out side the dorm, so you wouldn’t
be embarrassed in front of your friends.

When you were 20, she asked whether you were seeing any one.
You thanked her by saying “it is none of your business”

When you were 21, she suggested certain careers for your future.
You thanked her by saying “I don’t want to be like you”

When you were 22, she hugged you at your college graduation.
You thanked her by asking whether she could pay for a trip to Europe.

When you were 23, she gave you furniture for your first apartment
You thanked her by telling your friends it was ugly.

When you were 24, she met your fiancé and asked about your plans
for the future.
You thanked her by glaring and growling “muuhh-ther, please….!”

When you were 25, she helped to pay for your wedding, and she cried and
told how deeply she loved you.
You thanked her by moving halfway across the country.

When you were 30, she called with some advice on the baby.
You thanked her by her that “things are different now”

When you were 40, she called to remind you about relative’s birthday.
You thanked her by saying you were “really busy right now”

When you were 50, she fell ill and needed you to take care of her.
You thanked her by reading about the burden parents become to their
children.

And then one day, she quietly died. And every thing you never did came
crashing down like thunder on your HEART.

Hi friends,

IF SHE IS STILL AROUND, NEVER FORGET TO LOVE HER MORE
THAN EVER
AND IF SHE IS NOT AROUND, REMEMBER HER UNCONDITIONAL
LOVE AND PASS IT ON

ALWAYS REMEMBER TO LOVE THY MOTHER, BECAUSE YOU ONLY
HAVE ONE MOTHER IN YOUR LIFE TIME !!!!!!!

Bad Economy - Good for future generation?

Hi friends, are you worried about the present global economic crisis? "YES"- will be the answer from most of us. West to south, billionaire to beggar, employer to employee, in a nut shell every one of us is badly hit by this global phenomenon. Even though I am also a victim of the present bad economy, I see a ray of hope which is beaming out from this crisis for my next generation.

In a pursuit to attain economic superiority over other, every country has started industrial production in excess of demands without looking back at its side effect on the Mother Nature, and the main beneficiaries are the so called five super powers of the world. Goods were being produced in uneven proportions to requirements and China took a leading role at this period and quantity replaced quality. All available natural resources are explored and utilized to satisfy country's ego and greed of some sections of society. Here is a simple example but very alarming one to illustrate China's greed at the cost of environment: production of wood pulp and VS Fiber, for which eucalyptus tree is the major raw material. They entered this fray recently and set up plants with very high capacities and started selling pulp and fiber at very cheap price giving up the concept of quality and if these types of industrial activities are carried out at the cost of nature, the future of our next generation will be very bleak. I am not pointing out China alone, every country and its population is on this self destruction path. The under ground big bang experiment which is being carried out in America may be a step in that direction, only time will tell us.

As a testimony to the Newton’s theory which says "for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction", all our activities are producing side effects in the form of generation of green house gases, global warming, ozone layer depletion so on. Every year global average ambient temperature is increasing resulting in melting of ice in the glaciers which was formed billion years back, effectively increasing the present sea water level. If this trend continues which is an irreversible one, then those days are not very far when the whole earth is under water.

Friends, due to the present economic crisis, industrial production is on low scale all over the world and I hope this will continue and go down further keeping in mind its benefits to our ecology and environment. Though we cannot restore the damaged environment back, we can sustain the present level by limiting our industrial activities as per our global requirements. Oil wells in the gulf region have reduced their oil production and it is a good sign according to me not only because we are preserving every drop of oil for our future generation but we are saving the environment from generation of green house gases.

I always believe that our present generation is the only custodians of the Nature and its resources which are very old and priceless. But we often forget this very fact and doing every thing not to hand over this Mother Nature to our next generation in a healthy condition. The present economic cries should be an eye opener to every one of us who have little concern for their children and grand children. We should utilize this God send opportunity to change our life style and do every thing possible to minimize pollution generating activities. It is now or never. Let us put our greed behind every thing and practice the concept of environment protection first, every thing next. I hope now you may agree with my view that the present economic crisis is a blessing in disguise to all of us and to our future generation.

Presently all of us are busy in selecting favors for our friends and relatives for the coming Christmas and New Year to show our love and affection to them and it is a custom since many generations all over the world. I believe our greatest offering of all the times to our next generation should be a great place to live not to suffer.

Gist of Bhagavad Gita

Hi friends, the following lines which are extracted from Bhagavad gita can be used as a guide in our day to day life. If we recall every incidents of our life and try to link them with these concepts, I am sure we can get rid off most of our worries. If we believe in these concepts, then we can always remain happy in our life. To adopt these principles in our life it requires a strong and healthy mind. Through practice of yoga we can prepare ourself to understand and practice what Lord Krishna revealed to his friend Arjuna in the battle field of Kurukshetra.
"Whatever has happened is for good.

Whatever is happening is going on well.

Whatever will happen that will also be good.

Why you are repenting for whatever you have lost?

Have you brought anything with you which you have lost?

Have you produced anything with you which you have lost?

Whatever you have gained you obtained from here.

Whatever you gave you have given here.

Whatever belongs to you today yesterday belongs to someone else.
It may belonged to someone day after. "

Rare photograph

Hi friends, what is an antique? In 1930 the U.S. Government ruled that objects had to be at least a 100 year old to be classified as an antique. Then here is a classic example of antique. Tirupati Balaji temple was believed to be built about 2000 years back. The exact beginning of this temple is still a matter of debate, but as per the available records it was built just before the birth of Jesus Christ. India is a land of ancient temples and most of these monuments are coming under the category of antique. The technology used to build theses structures is a challenge to modern technologists.
Usually as per Hindu customs and practices, photography of the main deity (idol) is not generally allowed except during some special occasions. The main deity of Tirupathi Temple is Lord Venkateshwara or Balaji. Like other ancient and prominent Hindu temples, photography of Lord Balaji is strictly prohibited. In the history of this temple, photography of Balaji is allowed only twice. This photo is one of them, captured more than hundred years back. Even though this temple is old enough to be categorized as an antique, it is becoming a most modern one in all aspects by the usage of available technologies. But what about this photo?
May I call it is an antique or should I search for the camera from which this photo is taken?

A tribute to messenger of non-violence

Hi friends, today being October 2, public holiday in India on behalf birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. Though he was one amongst the millions of freedom fighters who fought against the then mighty, merciless colonial power of British Empire, his simplicity, his belief on truth and non violence and successfully leading the entire freedom struggle as per his philosophy earned him the status of father of Nation. But he was miserably failed in his effort to bring religious harmony and become a mute spectator to the division of his Motherland on the basis of religion. He never accepted any position including Prime Minister Ship when it was offered to him. He won the battle against British by mere non cooperation and non violence means, but his tragic death was due to bullets fired on him by his fellow countryman, who himself was an admirer of Mahatma. Religious intolerance is the origin of all types of terrorism in the world today. If any religious group, any where in the world, feel it is being targeted by other groups, they can show their anger by non violent methods. Terrorism cannot solve any issues. Tools adopted by Mahatma can well be adopted by these groups and get their issues resolved without loss of life and property.I think there cannot be a better tribute to that Great Soul other than this?

Feeding a Hungry-Ultimate Spiritualism

Hi Friends, I happened to have a widget “Free rice – Play and feed a hungry person” for my blog from my friend’s site and inspired to write a post on it.

Indian culture is unique in so many aspects. India's great diversity of cultural practices, languages customs, and traditions are examples of this unique co-mingling over the past five millennia. Ramayana and Mahabharata are the two biggest and oldest epics of all the time. Hinduism, Jainism, Buddhism, Sikhism are the main religious systems of India. Indian culture does not invent God but it discovers. According to Swami Vivekananda "The highest truth is this: God is present in all beings. They are his multiple forms. There is no other God to seek. He alone serves God who serves all other beings." According to Hinduism, Annadaanam or offering the food as the highest service to the needy people. Anna daanam was and still is considered foremost among other daanams (Donations) and those who performed it were blessed with lots of food throughout their life, with good children, plenty of wealth and also Gods own mercy and liberation.

When I grabbed this free rice widget I felt very happy. If you play a quiz through this widget, for every right answer you earn 20 grams of rice, which will be used for feeding a hungry person through United Nations World Food Program. You can attempt any number of questions in different categories. Free Rice is a sister site of Poverty.com. Partners are the Berkman Center for Internet & Society at Harvard University and the United Nations World Food Program. Sponsors pay your donated rice.

These organizations are performing the highest service by feeding the needy people in their own way. I think this is the purest form of spiritualism. Every body should be grateful to these organizations for this noble cause.

I request my blog visitors to play this quiz every time they visit my site and also copy this widget in their blog so that our blogger community can make some difference in the life of hungry people around the World.

Power of belief – A real story ?

Hi Friends, I am going to share an incident with you which took place about 50 years back in Mangalore district of Karnataka state, southern part of India where we can see different types of religious rituals. One of them is Holy Spirit Worship popularly known as BHUTA KOLA. This is an ancient form of worship prevalent among the Tulu-speaking community in Udupi, Mangalore districts in Karnataka and Kasaragod( my native place) district in Kerala. The spirits or the bhutas worshipped are considered to be the guardians of the villages, blessing and protecting the villagers. Many of these spirits are said to be attendants of Lord Shiva. Though people in this area are well educated now and the literacy rate here is very high compared to any other part of India, most of the villages have become towns, effect of modernization and globalization can be seen in every house hold, but their belief on the existence of Bhuta is still intact, in fact it has increased. Why it is so?

Here is a real incident: In a village near Mangalore, in a middle class family, their only worshiping deity was a spirit called panjurli(See Video). Their every activity was beginning with panjurli and ending with it. That means, though it was not visible, they were feeling its presence in their house and around them. Such was their belief on panjurli. The lady in the house was the back bone of the family looking after her six small children and her husband who was also not healthy. Suddenly one day, lady fell down due to some unknown reason, every body thought she was unconscious and gave some first aid, but there was no improvement in her condition. She has no breath, her heart beating was almost nil. for every body’s surprise, within few minutes she suddenly got up as if nothing has happened and continued her routine work. Calendar pages rolled, Children grown up, daughters got married; sons became earning members of the family. As a whole all were very happy. One day on the day of Bhuta kola which is performed once in a year, suddenly she fell down again, in front of the people who gathered for the function. Within no time her dead body turned in to a skeleton.

What happened there? There is no scientific explanation for it. How a living body suddenly turned in to a skeleton? People gave their own explanations to it. Most of the believers of panjurli thought, this woman died long back when she collapsed first time. To give support to the family members, spirit panjurli entered her dead body and stayed inside till her presence was a must in the family.

I know some readers may think this is a mere story. We see so many miracles take place now and then in different part of the world for which we can’t give any explanation. I wanted to share this very old incident here as a blog post, but I was hesitating since I was not a eye witness to it. Finally gathered my courage and publishing it. If any body can give better explanation for this incident I will be happy to know it.

Darwin's theory - only assumption?

Hi friends,I am a regular visitor of allconsidering for which I am a feed subscriber. The author has centered all posts around spiritualism. In a recent post “The purpose of reincarnation” author has expressed views beautifully on reincarnation which are not easy to digest for people like me. I am convinced and happy to go through some views on reincarnation which are matching my own views in my blog post is-rebirth-reality-or-myth in this site.
But regarding the evolution theory author has written I quote: "Evolution is a physical fact. There’s no longer the option of denying that science has proved that humans descend from animals which were also the ancestors of the current apes. Even the Roman Catholic Church has officially accepted this." unquote
Darwin's theory of evolution was based mainly on some assumptions not on scientific facts. Just by assumptions we can't conclude anything. Some hundred years back our forefathers believed that The Earth was flat, but latter it was proved wrong. Here are some quotes about Evolution theory from which we can conclude that species evolution is not a scientific fact. anointed-one.net

Keeping aside all scientific theories, assumptions and religious belief, we can discuss evolution theory on the basis of some facts of modern era. We have the record of all the species for the last twenty centuries or may be even more except for some rare ones. Our scientists have not witnessed any instance of species evolution what so ever during this period and they are not expecting any such thing in future also. In one Yoga seminar Baba Ramdev of India who is a well-known Yoga teacher and a spiritual leader, has questioned the believers of Darwin’s theory, I quote “if man is evolved from ape, then why that evolution is not taking place now, not for the last 5000 years; if it is a natural process then it should be continues one.” unquote.

Though I try to find scientific answer for all my doubts, I just blindly believe that every species is a separate creation of God and don’t need any scientific proof for it.

Hi Friends, today being a full moon day, an auspicious one for us in India, I would like to start a new post with a new Label called Health through Yoga. Spiritualism and yoga are knitted with each other. Yoga practice is the foundation for spiritual journey. But for common people like me, practicing yoga is to lead a healthy life both physically and mentally. Saint Patanjali was the first person who experimented and wrote books on yoga. Mudra is a spiritual gesture, performed with the hands and fingers. Though mudras are very simple and easy to practice, but are are very powerful. If you practice these mudras regularly you can see the wonderful health benefits. We can discuss few of them on daily basis one by one.

Brain damaging Habits………

Hi Friends, today again being Sunday, as usual off day, I was searching my old collections, for a new blog post. Though all of us know about the consequences of bad habits, we continue those habits at the cost of our life which is price less. Some bad habits can be stopped by changing our life style where as some requires a bit of extra effort.

Here I have listed few brain damaging bad habits or practices. Though these tips might have been published millions of times in different languages, in different Medias, I thought refreshing them again may not be a bad idea keeping in mind the importance of health of brain in our life. Our medical science is progressing in all fields except in the field of human brain. This is the only organ in our body which cannot be treated in an exact way, cannot be transplanted from other bodies. God has given all possible external protections to this precious organ, but He will be a mute spectator, when we ourself are trying to damage it from inside.

1. No breakfast: Leads to lower blood sugar, reflects in an insufficient supply of nutrients to the brain causing brain degeneration.

2.Over eating: It causes hardening of the brain arteries, leading to a decrease in mental power.

3. Smoking: It causes multiple brain shrinkage and may lead to Alzheimer disease.

4. High sugar consumption: It will interrupt the absorption of proteins and nutrients, may effect brain development.

5. Air pollution: Less supply of oxygen leads to decrease in brain efficiency.

6. Sleep deprivation: Sleep allows our brain to rest. Restlessness to brain leads to the acceleration of the death of brain cells

7. Head covered while sleeping: It increases the concentration of Carbon dioxide and decreases the oxygen concentration causing brain damage.

8. Working your brain during illness: It leads to the decrease in the effectiveness of the brain as well as may even damage it.

9. Lacking in stimulating thoughts: Positive thinking is the best way to train our brain, avoiding brain shrinkage.
